On November 8 of this year a typhoon struck the Philippines – the worst storm the world has known in recent decades. The storm caused heavy loss and destruction and left two million people homeless with no electricity, telecommunications and food.  Mifalot, which has had experience helping children cope in similar situations such as after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, was ready to set out.

The Field of Hope mission was made possible by Sponsorship International and established by Mifalot and a local Philippine based football organization named ‘Futkal & Friends’.  The program included a professional coaching seminar on coping with post trauma through football to over 50 coaches and P.E teachers. The team also worked with some 600 children over the week they were in the Islands.

“Mifalot Education and Society Enterprises” is the largest sports organization for development and peace in the Middle East. The organization was founded in 1997 by the then owners of the Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club, and today operates hundreds of social projects throughout the region and around the world.
